Industrial Research Institute
The Industrial Research Institute (IRI) is the nation's leading association of companies and federal laboratories working together to improve their research and development capabilities. It was an idea from an IRI board meeting that led to the creation of CIMS. Its mission is to enhance the effectiveness of technological innovation in industry, making it a natural fit for CIMS. Consequently, IRI has long provided technical assistance to CIMS. Learn more.
Kenan Institute for Engineering, Technology, & Science
The Kenan Institute for Engineering, Technology & Science, based at NC State, focuses on bringing the resources of engineering, technology and science to bear on the most critical challenges facing society today. It supports teams and partnerships that, in addition to creating new knowledge, can apply that knowledge to generate capital, jobs and new technologies. National Science Foundation
The National Science Foundation (NSF) was created by Congress in 1950 with the stated goal--one of several--to promote the progress of science and engineering. The NSF, which has an annual budget of $6 billion, provides funding for about 20 percent of all federally supported research at colleges and universities across the nation. Early funding from the NSF helped CIMS develop its capability to create collaboration among visionaries in both the academic and business sectors. Learn more.
NC State Poole College of Management
Poole College is CIMS' official host and continual collaborator. Along with its MBA program tailored to professionals in the high-tech sector, the College offers graduate and undergraduate degrees in accounting, business management and economics. It's the only public business school in the state with a mandate to focus on the management of technology, innovation and entrepreneurship.
