CIMS Research Program


The Center for Innovation Management Studies is an Industry/University Cooperative Research Center supported by the National Science Foundation, the Kenan Institute for Engineering, Technology & Science and a diverse group of industrial firms that have major R&D operations in the United States. The purpose of CIMS is to support studies that will advance practical and theoretical knowledge about the process of technological innovation. Its goal is to fund projects of high academic quality that will support technology managers in the design, implementation and continuous improvement of organizational systems for achieving innovation goals effectively and efficiently. In general, the emphasis is upon issues associated with matching the strategic needs of the organization for new and improved products, processes and services with opportunities arising from new technical possibilities and scientific discoveries.
