Abstract

Self Definition by Women Scientists and Engineers: Self Definition in a Male- Dominated Occupation Using a survey of women scientists and engineers from 24 U.S. based, industrial companies, the paper examines the assessment that women make of their own technical performance. A model is developed of those factors, which contribute to women's self-assessment in an R&D setting. Discussion is included on how gender roles may affect these self-assessments.
