Recent interest in the communication technology-organization relationship has neglected a critical dimension-knowledge exchange. An understanding of the relational aspects of knowledge exchange and organizational networks is fundamental to the design of enabling communication technologies. In this article, we propose some configurations of technical and organizational design parameters in relation to knowledge exchange content and context. The focal organizational context for our discussion is technology transfer (TT) which epitomizes the complexities and dilemmas of knowledge exchange in a globally dispersed and diverse network of relationships.
